Clik here to view.Set the alarm and make your way down to Vauxhall for an art inspired car boot sale in London, where renowned artists from Tracey Emin to Sir Peter Blake will be setting up trunk.
If you thought car boot sales were just old tat spilling out the back of a rusty old Ford Escort, you were wrong. This June, the chicest car boot you’ll ever experience comes to London, and you’re sure to bag yourself a bargain or two.
The Vauxhall Art Car Boot Fair sees acclaimed British artists including Turner Prize nominated Tracey Emin and Sir Peter Blake, of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album cover fame, pitching up in Vauxhall vintage cars to personally sell limited edition works of art.
Taking place on Sunday 9 June 2013, just off Brick Lane in the Brick Lane Yard, the event offers a unique opportunity to unleash your inner art collector. Other artists setting up shop, or boot rather, include the likes of Gavin Turk, Polly Morgan, Mat Collishaw, Bob & Roberta Smith, Pam Hogg, Marcus Harvey and Billy Childish. And there’s a price to please all with bargains starting at a very pocket friendly £10, making their way up to £1,000.
The Vauxhall Art Car Boot Fair is celebrating its 10th birthday this year, which is sure to make it a bigger and better event than ever before. Even if you don’t acquire a new piece for your living room wall there’ll be plenty on offer to keep you entertained throughout the day.
To begin with, ten lucky visitors will receive a Golden Ticket, which entitles them to scour the car boots for 10 minutes before everyone else. Think Supermarket Sweep but with Emin – who knows what future masterpiece the lucky few might get?
There’ll also be ‘Pass The Art Parcel’ to take part in which is a grown-up version of the kid’s party game. Unravel each layer of the parcel to receive some highly sought after art goodies.
And to ensure visitors don’t go hungry there’ll be plenty of food stalls on offer from posh bacon sarnies courtesy of St John Bread & Wine to artisan foods from the East End favourite, Leila’s Shop.
To celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the Vauxhall Car Boot, artist and exhibitor Sir Peter Blake has created a special print celebrating Britain’s love affair with art and the Vauxhall brand. All proceeds from the 110 limited edition prints will go to charities, Just For Kids Law, Kids Company and Help For Heroes.
The celebrated British artist commented that the event is “a clever way to make art accessible and affordable to everyone.”
Elbows at the ready, the Vauxhall Car Boot Fair is sure to be one of the London art scene’s most sought after events this year.
