Clik here to view. The National Theatre’s pop-up venue The Shed has created a new production of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, suitable for little ones as young as 8 years.
Give little ones an early introduction to the works of Shakespeare, with The Shed’s modern take on one of the most famous plays of all time.
Set against an urban, modern day backdrop The Shed’s take on Romeo and Juliet will resonate with little ones through dance, song and a set design of vibrant colour. Written by Ben Power, the play is suitable for children as young as 8 years, so you can make the trip a day out for the whole family.
This modern approach to an old classic is what the National Theatre’s The Shed is all about. The temporary venue celebrates new theatre that is adventurous, ambitious and unexpected. And pitching up in London’s Southbank makes it one of the most family-friendly spots in the capital.
There are plenty of things nearby to really make a day out of it, from the Tate Modern to a whole host of family friendly events taking place at the Southbank Centre. Food-wise, refuel at the numerous restaurants from award-winning Canteen to kid’s favourite, Giraffe.
Whether you’re looking to introduce your little ones to the works of Shakespeare, or simply after an alternative way to see the greatest love story of all time told, head to The Shed this July or August for a summer holiday day out to remember.
